Next Basi Virk hearing Vancouver Supreme Court - Friday, 16th of November - at 9:00 AM

.
There aren't many laughs in this business but I did get a rueful chuckle today while deleting bushels of incoming and outgoing e.mails. This one is a complaint about the Court Lists which had been frozen. Have a look at the date and all:

Date: Mon Nov 13, 2006
To: Courts.CSO@gov.bc.ca
Subject: Malfunction

The daily court lists for B.C. Court Services Online is frozen ... and has been frozen for quite some time.

So could you please confirm that Supreme Court Justice Elizabeth Bennett will give her ruling on 14 November 2006 on whether trial proceedings for Basi, Virk, Basi will proceed as scheduled on
4 December 2006?

Thank you.

BC Mary.

Good one, eh?

Meantime, here's another chuckle from the Criminal Code of Canada, a definition of organized crime:

Quote:

467.1(1) The following definitions apply in this Act.

"criminal organization" means a group, however organized, that (a) is composed of three or more persons in or outside Canada; and (b) has as one of its main purposes or main activities the facilitation or commission of one or more serious offences that, if committed, would likely result in the direct or indirect material benefit, including a financial benefit, by the group or by any of the persons who constitute the group.

BC Mary is looking at Tree Farm Licences in British Columbia and thinking how much easier it must be to bring about changes in governance than to ... well, for example: when was the last time the newspapers headlined a story about a bank robbery in B.C.?

More later.
