Big day ... June 2nd

.
So you thought June 2, 2008 would be the big significant day in British Columbia because of the Basi Virk / BC Rail hearings getting under way again? Well, yes, there's that. A week from Monday, at Vancouver Supreme Court, 9:30 AM.

But perhaps even more significantly, June 2, 2008 is the big day for Premier Gordon Campbell's Invitational Golf Tournament at the Golden Eagle Golf Club at Maple Ridge. You won't believe the invitees unless you see the list with your own eyes. Go to Public Eye Online for May 23 and read about it under the heading Golden Golfing, by Sean Holman. Top o'the list: Alliance of Beverage Licensees of B.C. Big day gets under way at 8:30 AM and runs until 8:00 PM, with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and the $1 million shoot-out provided. I swear I am not making this up.

Great tip Mary, what a bought and paid for government there is in this pathetic province.

I wish we could muster up a Greek Chorus to sing BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO softly in the background and comment on the actions, motives and the possible future fate of the protagonist...just as the chorus does in classical Greek tragedy.

Hi Mary

Let's not forget that case #49026 is scheduled for the same day. I haven't seen any change yet.

That's the case against CN for the spill in the Cheekamus River that wiped out the salmon and many other birds and animals. Sure hope I can be in Vancouver on the second. We need extra ears for sure.

I'll be my life, that the hearing on June 2 nd., never gets under way. Why would it? The BC government has had more courts cases connected to the raid, on-going, for the sole purpose of 'can't discuss whats before the courts'... In laymans terms,'you can't catch me, cause the rabbit doesn't sing!' Freedom of speech was a beautiful dream that Martin Luther King, once had!

Where's the cooling off period?????

one of the many financial backers of the BC Liberals who pretend to golf includes Plutonic Power Corp..

"Bill Irwin, Plutonic’s new Director of Lands Resource Management, was a senior bureaucrat for the BC Government with responsibility for reviewing and approving major developments on provincial Crown lands. Plutonic’s announcement boasts of Irwin’s experience in the approval and administration of over 30,000 land tenures in BC.

“Until very recently, Mr. Irwin was the go-to guy if you wanted to get your mega-project approved on Crown lands,” said Gwenne Farrell, Vice President of the Canadian Office and Professional Employees Local 378 (COPE 378). “This news release actually brags that by appointing Mr. Irwin to this post, this IPP developer will get privileged and streamlined access to the backrooms of government in order to get their windfall power development approved.” Farrell is also a Senior Financial Analyst with BC Hydro.
Irwin was listed as the Acting Assistant Deputy Minister of Tourism and Resort Development as recently as November 16, 2006.

“Plutonic is embarking on a controversial mega-project with major environmental consequences, and they are hiring backroom operatives, whose seats in their public offices are still warm, to secure backroom access,” concluded Farrell.
Elisha Moreno, Plutonic’s new Director of Corporate Communications, was formerly Media Relations Manager at BC Hydro. Under the BC Energy Plan brought in by the Campbell Government, BC Hydro awarded a long-term contract to buy the power generated by Plutonic’s developments on the East Toba River and Montrose Creek. Plutonic will also be seeking contracts from BC Hydro for 15 more privately-owned hydropower developments.

Tom Syer, Plutonic’s new Director of Policy and Regulatory Affairs, worked as Premier Campbell’s Deputy Chief of Staff for policy co-ordination and issues management for several years. He was also Ministerial Assistant to the Minister of Sustainable Resource Management.

These moves were criticized by NDP MLA Guy Gentner, who called for a six-month “cooling off” period for public service and Crown corporation employees.
"

How many shares do each of these dudes ( & Gordo, of course) hold in Plutonic?
Why are we forcing these run-of-river projects upon BC taxpayers when BC Hydro is still selling power to the US?

And, why, since we produce so much gas in BC, aren't we paying preferred prices per litre and the export market pay more? Someone explain all this, please?

Another key player at the BC Liberals Golf tourney is TBC Teletheatre BC Ltd.: formed in 1994 as a partnership (read betting company) between Fraser Downs, Hastings Racecourse, the BC Standardbred Association and the Horsemen's Benevolent & Protective Association, and is the only entity authorized by the provincial government to provide off-track wagering services in British Columbia.

If you are thinking be bucks here, you might be right, especially if you look at the Labour Relations British Columbia's copy of their collective agreement (page 48) with their employees.

Two currency exchange centers were raided by the RCMP today, something to to with money laundering. If it isn't Casino operating under the BC Lottery Commission there's always another one

Mary,

The Premier's Office Estimates debates began today with the premier refusing to discuss how his office interfered in the government document disclosure protocol.

Seems as though the Premier was much more talkative in 2007 than in 2008.

I am sure that more is to come on this issue....

"Seems as though the Premier was much more talkative in 2007 than in 2008."

Seems like the premier was even MORE talkative when he was the opposition leader AND everything he tended to say tended to be the OPPOSITE of what he says today.

I find it appalling that lying is considered unethical and/or even illegal in most walks of life, while in politics it seems to be considered business as usual. Even the public gives dishonesty a pass in politics, after all, EVERYBODY DOES IT, or so the story goes!

Typical behaviour of our premier, whom he thinks is a CEO of a giant corporation. Clearly he suffers from delusions and has a serious case of bottom line disease.

I think the RCMP raid re: money laundering yesterday was deliberately timed to stop the public from focusing on the BC Gov't supported casinos doing it. There was to much BC Liberal negativity on the airwaves, and it had to be nipped in the bud.

Express Collision Shop Said,

HONEY, I WILL BE A LITTLE LATE TONIGHT, I GOTTA GREASE THE WHEELS.

Holeman always does a great job on the grease monkeys. I will be greasing a few wheels next week also, however, I will actually be greasing real wheels and axles with real grease, not cash.

Sean has connected a few dots over the years. One of them is Patrick Kinsella and his gaming buddies. Kinsella and buds have a mess load of shares in gaming companies. If you look at the list of greasies-many of them have a common denominator-they need something from the liberals. I did not see former hockey player Len Barry on the list. He is one of the best political greasy stick handlers of recent memory. Len even admitted his cozyness a few weeks ago in a Sun article regarding Bear Mountain. Shameful way to laugh all the way to the bank. I can picture Campbell's organizers inviting these needful companies to the Golden Greasy Golf Grab, easy job-they just went through the list from the lobbyist registry.

I have a great way for all of us who did'nt get an invite to join the greasy grab. Let's all invite all the media in B.C. to the party-every single one of them. They probably won't be at the court house. Malcolm Parry and his step ladder can lead the bunch of photographers to the Golden golf course.

A footnote, Paul Taylor and his new company Naikun Windwhatever are sponsoring the million dollar hole. They have set up a giant windmill on one of the water hazards. If you help Naikun out, you can get a little help on the green from the golden windmill.

You think all that talkin' last spring was an attempt to get us to follow him down that yellow brick road called Machiavelli?

Paul Taylor and his relationship with Brian Kieran are the focus of the NDP line of questioning in the Premier's Estimates today.

Campbell doesn't look too pleased with answering questions.

Maybe he would like to answer questions in Supreme Court.

BRIAN KIERAN'S RELATIONSHIP WITH PAUL TAYLOR QUERIED BY THE NDP

Question after question the NDP fired at the Premier about the contents of emails from the former lobbyist's - BRIAN KIERAN, JAMIE ELMHIRST, AND ERIK BORNMANN.

The emails raise many questions about the relationship with Brian Kieran and Paul Taylor. In one email Kieran writes that "Paul Taylor's wife is his message bearer."

Brian Kieran has been subpoened as a witness in this case.

Express Collision Shop Said,

Speaking of Paul Taylor. From the "NOT GONNA BELIEVE IT ICBC FILES AGAIN" TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN.

NO NEED TO HAVE DRIVERS LICENCE TO DRIVE AND BE INSURED BY ICBC. NOW THAT IS ROADSENSE. THAT MAY EXPLAIN ALL THOSE ACCIDENTS AND BAD DRIVERS ON THE ROADS. AND NO, I HAVE NEVER DONATED TO THE LIBERALS, NDP OR ATTENDED ANY POLITICAL GOLF GRABS. Todays CBC News online BC news.

Express Collision Shop Said,

THOSE GOSH DARN E-MAILS AGAIN.

I bet the NDP have recieved another leaked e-mail regarding lobbypalooza. Carol James those are wicked good questions to Gordon. Keep up the KPMG questions. Mary, you will notice that some of these questions are the exact same ones your bloggers asked this past year regarding the KPMG summary report. The NDP should be thanking you in helping their research team. Todays Hansard is a very important document.

Another footnote, Is it true that KPMG is sponsoring the 13th hole and auditing the golf scores on Monday ? Limitless amount of Mulligans for this turn-a-mint.

Well, we know who WON'T be at the EagleRidge golf tourney. G Duuhhhbya Bush won't be there, because he is making a sacrifice to win the war on terror, by not playing golf.
