HELP WANTED: Must find 8,000 missing BC Rail Trial documents!

.
I am working on an editorial about Lara Dauphinee.

I need to find the letter allegedly recommending the hiring in 2001 of Bobby Singh Virk as the aide to the Minister of Transportation in the newly-elected B.C. Liberal government.

It has been seen among the 8,000 pages of documents obtained by the Bobby Virk, Basi, and Basi defence team in the BC Rail Corruption Trial.

These 8,000 pages were also obtained at great effort by B.C.'s Loyal Opposition who used their own resources to sort, organize, scan, and post this information on-line where the public could see them.

So last evening, expecting to obtain quick access to that resource, I typed the following URL into a search engine:

http://www.bcndpcaucus.ca/en/bcrailcorruption

and this is the message I got:

Site off-line

This site is unavailable until the conclusion of the provincial general election May 12. Thank you for visiting.

Can anybody explain this act of insanity?

Can anybody help me find that letter recommending that Bobby Virk be hired? And addressed to the premier's Chief of Staff, Martyn Brown? It was allegedly signed by Gordon Campbell and Lara Dauphinee, about whom, more later. - BC Mary

Inquiries are being made....

Details under separate cover, so to speak.

The NDP caucus website is owned by the legislature and used by MLA's...to use it during an election would be a severe conflict of interest and possibly against the law...its no different from an incumbent MLA using his MLA office for campaign purposes.

Peter Kelly,

Sorry, but what part of the BC Rail Trial sounds like campaign purposes to you?

What part of those 8,000 pages sound like electioneering?

You're a stranger to this web-site if you think I'm doing a political campaign when I want to know what happened to BC Rail.

I did apply my non-partisan rule to you, Peter, by looking to see if the BC Liberal web-site is shut down, too.

Silly me.

Of course it's not.

Nice try, Peter. No, on 2nd thought, that's not a nice try at all. It's this kind of stuff that's pulling British Columbia apart. Stop it. Try to help.

Try in whatever way suits you best, but for goshsakes, straighten up and tell the truth.

.

Right you are Mary, only the home page of the BCLiberal Government Caucus site is blocked or down with a message about the election. But one can easily access almost the entire site with its extremely political messages, right now, TODAY

Crap like this can be enjoyed or used to bring up something foul you may have eaten:

The three headlines above a typical examples of the "non-partisan" (cough, cough) stuff posted on the BC liaR CAUCUS equivalent of the site the NDP Caucus has been convinced needs to be down during the election.

On the page called Recent News of over eighty articles listed, all but two, one commemorating the passing of Stan Hagen and another about yet another BC liaR choosing to not run again, are attack pieces on the NDP with the NDP negatively portrayed in the headline AND the rest of the drivel.

I mean they may as well insist that if Carole James gets elected everyone in BC will be sent to Gitmo and tortured to death....it might even be less scary than the stuff bulls leave behind that make up the bulk of the crap.

Of course don't forget the genuine "public service" (cough, cough, again) sites like gov.bc.ca chock full of as pictures of Gordo, looking as attractive and human as it is possible to make him with lighting, make-up and filters - which still ain't very much attractiveness or warmth.

If Gordo continues to betray the people AND manipulate democracy, how long will it be before some folks find no option but a descent into Latin American style politics - or One bullet - one vote! Maybe Mexico today or Stevie's fave Columbia,is what we have to look forward to tomorrow!

easy there; no need to take a swipe at me for what I figured was a reasonable explanation for the NDP's caucus website being offline. The general idea is that government property (legislature, caucus websites) become off-limits in an election..or at least they should. I know the NDP caucus website is offline (not the party site though) and I can't find anything on the liberal caucus website either...it rightly should be offline (again, not the party site).
You have every right to be furious - just try not to shoot the messenger next time.

Well excuse me Mr. Kelly or Kinsella or whoever you are, but why don't you try the link above "recent news" or I'll tell you what, just in case you can't handle it I will provide the link AGAIN (below) so you can just click it and go. If you dare do so, then tell me where you are, it looks pretty much like the BC Liberal Government Caucus website to me - ALL THEY HAVE BLOCKED IS THE FIRST-HOME page - which most likely has only a pitiful picture of His Meaness the CEO Premier, but not the pages and pages of bragging and slagging the NDP - so tell me how that is fair, pleas!

Heres the link in double action format to make it easy to use for the simplest of souls. It should work as a live link (just click and go there) or if your machine is configured too poorly for that then PASTE in the link itself in the address bar.

http://www.governmentcaucus.bc.ca/EN/recent_news/The entire NDP caucus site appears to be blocked (I haven't found an accessible page) - NOT JUST THE RELATIVELY INFORMATION FREE Welcome/Home page, as is the case in liaR land (or the liberal caucus page).

As to your (reasonable) explanation or suggestion:

"The general idea is that government property (legislature, caucus websites) become off-limits in an election..or at least they should."So maybe Gordo and gang should take down all the tripe about how wonderful they are for BC from the gov.bc.ca site and just leave info about how to access BC Med, or Wally's World (the agministry)- that is REALLY a government property/resource.

nOf course I guess Gordo is of the same school as Stevie "the in_continent" Harper who tried to turn the CanadaWeatherServic Site
into an aggrandizement of his royal self. I guess even Stevie worshippers felt that was a bit much!

Heh heh! Where have I heard this song before? I know! It sounds oddly like a variation of "It's before the courts"!

But somehow it doesn't pass the smell test...

Great blog, BC Mary; keep up the good work!

wow! would you relax? I'm cheering you on here; and I don't appreciate being slimed by the bc liberal stain (because thats what it is)...have a look at my blog and you'll see how 'sympathetic' i am to the liberals and their gang of thugs and criminals

Hey Now....... Kootcoot, your link to the BC Liars dead ends at:

"April 09, 2009
NDP Plan Eliminates Jobs, Raises Taxes and Creates Massive Deficits
NDP leader Carole James has failed B.C. workers by unveiling a platform that kills job creation and introduces years of massive deficits."

The Election Writ was April 12th???

A click on the BC Liberal (caucus) HOME button and this pops up:

Thank you for visiting this Website.

For the duration of the provincial election campaign, April 14 - May 12, this site will not be available, in accordance with the BC Election Act.

For more information, please visit the following sites:

* BC Government

* Legislative Assembly of BC

* Elections BC
NDP, BC Liberals Caucii (that is the correct pluralification for Caucus, right) have shut down both of their publicly funded BC Legislative websites.....

I know important access to the RailGate8000 is to all of us.

However.

I'm with Peter on this one. We need to to cut him some slack.

He's no troll.

.

Anon with all the answers, the fact remains that the entire Liberal CAUCUS website EXCEPT for the Homepage is still accessible, no matter that all that anti-NDP drivel was published before the writ was dropped.

If you recall the 8000 documents were seized FIVE YEARS ago, and finally released (thanks to an FOI)
and published BEFORE the writ was dropped, so why are they now not available. They are MY documents, I paid to have them created, I paid the police to sieze the and I guess I probably even had to pay for an FOI to get to look at the un-redacted portions.

So what's up with that?

You say "NDP, BC Liberals Caucii (that is the correct pluralification for Caucus, right) have shut down both of their publicly funded BC Legislative websites....."So why is it that I can get to every page of the Liberal "publicly funded BC Legislative website" EXCEPT for the most likely information free home/welcome page? Or could it be that if there is a rule about this that ONLY the NDP bother to play by the rules.

Ooops, I forgot, laws, rules and ethics don't apply to Gordon and his gang of pirates!

Kootcoot, thanks for your reply.

Could you include some of your links?

Here's mine, for today, and its quite apparent that the BC Liberals PBA department are respecting the Premier's instructions not to publish anything after April 12th.

Ministers photo gallery, speeches, videos, Media room

As to the 8,000 FOI, well they're but the tip of the iceberg (they can be seen either before the election or afterwards).

The emails that have real sustance (probably seven times greater (and more in depth)), the ones that can't be reached by the Defense team, or the NDP, are off-limits to anyone that is going the route that the Premier suggested to the Opposition. FILE an FOI!!!

LOL

Or as Deep Throat wrote on Bill Tieleman's blog:

"Mr. Premier, its Clark Roberts here…let me in.

Oh, hello Clark.

Mr. Premier, it’s really dark in here why don’t you open your office blinds after all it’s a beautiful Victoria sunny day outside…

No, no Clark, I like it this way. So Clark, can I get you a drink…how about one of my famous double martinis.

That’s okay Mr. Premier it’s a little early for me today…Mr. Premier I came to let you know that many of your MLA’s are concerned about you…especially when you didn’t even show up for caucus this week…I got even more concerned when I e-mailed your private e-mail address speed@shaw.ca and it bounced back as not available." SNIP

Source for Deep Throat's insider story is in Hansard — Monday, May 28, 2007 p.m. — Vol. 21, No. 7C. James: "I'd like to now talk a little bit about communications between the Premier and MLAs, communications between the Premier and staff in his office and ask a straightforward question to the Premier. Is he familiar with the e-mail address speed@shaw.ca?

Hon. G. Campbell: No, I'm not aware of the e-mail speed@shaw.ca.

C. James: Does the Premier or anyone in his office use an e-mail address outside the government system to conduct the business either of government or his office?"
