Salt Spring News calls it "a smear campaign against top cop who pinpointed BC Rail crimes"

.
When that nifty little online newspaper, Salt Spring News, picked up BC Mary's story about the way CanWest treated the former Victoria Police Chief, I was extremely pleased. This newspaper is run by a semi-retired, been-around-the-block B.C. newsman, so his revised headline over my story really made my eyes pop. Check this out:

Regional News

British Columbia is a mad, mad, maddening province: Campbell coalition (we're sure) and Times Colonist have launched a smear campaign against top cop who pinpointed BC Rail crimes

Yesterday's front page of the Victoria Times Colonist was plastered with another surge of talk about former Chief Constable Paul Battershill of the Victoria Police Department. At first glance, a reader might think this Battershill guy had done something terrible ... and I suggest that this is precisely what we're expected to think.

But a second, closer look reveals something quite different ...

[Indeed, I was very impressed by that headline. - BC Mary.]
