BC Rail political corruption trial gets under way again today at 10:00 AM in BC Supreme Courtroom 54

.
with Martyn Brown, the premier's chief of staff, under cross-examination by Defence lawyer Kevin McCullough.

Did he (Martyn) contact one of the Accused (Bobby Virk), on a regular basis, offering "to look after him, if he kept his mouth shut"? Be there. Find out.

The  beautiful glass Law Courts building is at 800 Smithe Street, Vancouver.

Courtroom 54 is open to the public. And anything you see and hear while the jury is present, you can report to others. - BC Mary.

BC Mary comment: I don't know where to paste this information, either; all I know is that it's important public information which should scare the bejappers out of us all ...

This is another reason why we should be in BCSC Courtroom 54 every possible day we can manage it.  To see for ourselves.

Here's what I'm talking about ...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In their most tenacious effort to control the 'spin' on the worst oil spill disaster in the history, BP has purchased top internet search engine words so they can re-direct people away from real news on the Deepwater Horizon catastrophe.
BP spokesman Toby Odone confirmed to ABC News that the oil giant had in fact bought internet search terms. So now when someone searches the words 'oil spill',  on the internet, the top link will re-direct  them to BP's official company website ...
The words ‘oil spill’, 'BP oil spill', 'Deepwater Horizon' and 'oil spill response' are among several other related search terms that all lead to the top listed sponsored links purchased by BP.
BC Mary to Our Accredited Media
Urgent question: has somebody "bought" the search term "BC Rail Political Corruption Trial"?  And if so, who? And no, I'm not making this up -- such a wild idea never occurred to me in my worst nightmare. But it has happened, right under our noses.
So I wondered: Does "our" embedded media know? Are they asking around?
Comments:
Googling 'BC Rail Corruption Trial' seems to produce the most hits for me. Included is a Wikipedia article that could use some updating and editing by someone 'knowledgeable'.If someone is buying these things I guess they haven't paid for that one yet.
No Mary, I doubt they're asking around...if they were, and the truth hit them upside the head...it wouldn't be printed anyway.
Another dot connected re: CanWest media...Israel Asper was apparently a frequent "guest" at Bilderberg meetings. Might explain why CanWest covers Gordo with a thin film of teflon. He ain't done yet - in fact, I don't think he's even begun.
That is incredible! No word in the MSM this morning about this. It must be challenged legally. That amounts to thought control (shudders) I'm going to post this on facebook.
This makes me feel ill.Very ill. But on the other hand,if one can purchase search terms to direct internet traffic in a certain direction to spin a story, the same method can surely be used to direct people to the truth as well.
Something to think about...
"BC Rail Political Corruption Trial" with apostrophes on GOOGLE shows TLR as first result.
On BING, the same term gets Escorts Vancouver as the number one result.
Now, why would the search engine confuse a "pay for pleasure" site with BC Rail. Perhaps, the political prostitution involved?
Norman,
"Google Alerts" provide a very helpful tool for searching up news stories.
But today, under BC Rail, I got a diatribe about the financial difficulties of Vancouver School Board (in which BC Rail was mentioned once) ...
and flat-out advert for
Vancouver Massage Parlour (in which nothing made a connection with BC Rail).
So perhaps The Marketplace is having an auction of Google hits, or some such thing.
.
Search terms can be bought? Did anyone know this?
concerned citizen:
Yes, it's how it's done, it's how google operates and makes mondo bucks. But certain kinds of phrases, maybe this one, they largely won't touch; it's just that the newscopy will score higher than other types of hits. In the case of the Wikipedia item, all Wikipedia pages are somehow written to be among the first found in any google; that's why it was important this article got, at least, created.
WAtchingfromnextdoor:
Expansion/improvement of the Wikipedia article requires collective effort and there's nothing stopping anybody who comes by that link from augmenting the article; anything that's cited - ironically enough from a mainstream paper or other "reliable" source, which doesn't include blogs (Mary's is an exception) - any information provided will not be removed, or if removed then quickly restored, if it's cited material and written in a neutral tone of voice.
Various of us editors have had long hard looks at expanding it, and the scop and complexity of information that needs updating....I recused myself from it, though monitor3ed it, because of my strong POV (point of view) on the subject matter and also my very pointed participation in blog debates. If you look on its talkpage, and also on discussions on the WikiProject Canada talkpage and elsewhere, you'll find that I held forth on the idea that the article should be split into separate articles about the scandal, the personalities involved, the actual legal proceeding itself (article title would be HMTQ v. Basi, Virk, Basi). The ones about personalities must be vetted severely as about living persons (Wikipedia is very strict about any biography) and also any such articles should be monitored to watch for conflict-of-interest edits and/or autobiographical edits (both are no-no's).
But there's not enough editors to go around, prepared to work on such delicate material. I've opined that it may be necessary, for the article(s) to be deonce correctly, that it should be someone writing from American or British soil so the boom of the press ban cannot be lowered on them.
But a huge amount of material has to be added, and the "flow" of the story told without it being seen as "POV", or as "SOAP" (soapbox). You're welcome to augment it as you see fit; maybe it will get the ball rolling.
Myself, though prodigious as an editor and contributor, I've recused myself from Wikipedia because all my energies were being taken up by administrators launching campaigns about formatting and homogeneity, and mass-deleting items for stupid reasons, and generally behaving high-handedly without actually contributing any real history, geography, science, whatever....the powers and overbearing inanity of the adminship are driving many experienced wikipedians, including true believers like myself, away.....and like Scientologists, we're not supposed to discuss the community's or the encyclopedia's inner workings to the unwashed layman; "bad wikiquette" to expose the failings of Wikipedia to the public. If I was still active, and someone saw this, I'd get a tut-tut note on my page, maybe something on the Administrator's Notice Board about "how to deal with me".
All in the nicest, most passively-aggressive and calm language.
Anything you add though, I'll be watching and will fix up anonymously if I see something about it that could lead to a PAB "mole" trying to fiddle with it, or get rid of it (there's at least a few of them, and I've been censured and nearly officially banned for saying so....).
Another article that could use drastic updating is Campbell's....
Also to note there's something called "search engine optimization", which is a whole sector of the IT industry, which is about designing and encoding webpages so as to attract higher rankings. I have a friend in the business, who says he can get anyone in the top five hits. This doesn't involve buying words, but it involves following various guides for including terms in META tags and elsewhere so as to draw the spiders of the search engines; there's whole manuals on how to do this.....it's why Wikipedia pages show up how they do, though I'm not sure of the code technique they've used to accomplish that.
On BING, the same term gets Escorts Vancouver as the number one result.
I hope it goes without saying that if it came out that escorts were hired for any bidders or otherwise connected to this case, there'd have been more media attention.....wishful thinking perhaps, but in any high-stakes business it's not just booze and dinner the customer gets plied with....
The masses must be controlled, goes back century's. This was also Hitlers ideology, and his propaganda minister Goebbels, allowed, no bad press about Hitler, to ever reach the citizens. Campbell instructs his ministers, to mention, his strong leadership. As we see, anyone who opposes Campbell, finds themselves out of a job. Weird stuff, on the net and face book, have been mentioned by many.
