Somethings Happening Here,
................What it is Ain't Exactly Clear!

Thanks to a tip from Citizen Journalist 54, who seems to perform more journalism and reporting in his spare time than all the drones, flacks and fiction writers of the erstwhile AssPerson Empire do in their so-called "professional" capacities, we know that there were court appearances for Bobby Virk and Aneal Basi regarding the BC Rail Corruption case on August 6, the sixty-fifth anniversary of Hiroshima. Mary is temporarily  off-line (briefly this time, we hope)  so  I received  a message this morning that  said in part:

I have been able to do some research and found out that the BC Rail trial had a hearing on Friday, August 6, 2010 at the Vancouver Supreme Court! Something happened and we need to know what!

......... it is important to notify her readers and to ask why the MSM didn't mention it even if they could not report on it. I hope to uncover more...

.......very strange that only Virk and Aneal Basi are mentioned but I don't want to speculate as we know how accuratethese court listings are:
It is far too late to learn whether or not this was listed on the daily docket/schedule for August 6, as those notices aren't published until it is too late to get to court from much east of Langley (and often they are posted after the session has begun), and they disappear in 24 hours or less. To see the completed appearances for the previous five days one will need to go here within the nextg  24 hours or so, though the relevant entries are reproduced above.

Meanwhile  the  LameStream  is content to  focus on the lurid revelations  from the pig farm or show ass-kisser Gordo following King Stephen around as King Stephen shows that his government has money to incarcerate sea mammals as well as those nasty humans committing all this "unreported" crime.  The PsuedoCons always can find the money to lock 'em up - be they people or creatures of the sea.

Koot,

Thank you -- and CJ54 -- for your contributions!

Not sure if I can successfully leave a comment here on TLR, so I've left some thoughts on House of Infamy ... mostly to say thanks!

There's news filtering out, these days, which is just too important to miss.

Thanks again.

Koot, just one note. It would probably help readers to know that the Aspers no longer control CanWest, indeed their involvement is miniscule or virtually nil.

Also, CanWest, is now called PostMedia (or something close to that), after the company was taken over by a consortium of investors headed up by, I believe, the Toronto Star publisher.

PostMedia has chosen people like David Emerson to sit on their board of directors, so you know things won't change very much.

However, the public out there needs to be reminded that the old CanWest is still lurking inside this shiny new Trojan horse, even if the name was changed (a favourite trick of people trying to outrun their reputation).

Cheers, CC

Canadian Canary:

"It would probably help readers to know that the Aspers no longer control CanWest"

It would probably help you to look up the meaning of "erstwhile" - hell, I'll save you the trouble.

ERSTWHILE - adjective - Previous, Former

As to the new ownership of the fleet of bird cage liners, I thought it wound up being SunMedia - composed of to a great extent the management team of the National Post - the paper that doesn't even pretend to be unbiased. It's the loss leader in pushing the neo-con agenda and the sell off of Canada to offshore interests.

PostMedia would make sense, with new ownership having such links to Convict Black's flagship propaganda publication. I avoid reading the CanWest (or SunMedia or PostMedia) drivel as much as possible, and have no time to study their geneology.

I could be wrong, but I was mildly enthused when it appeared that the TorStar group might get the chain of fiction and distortion, as I think the Star is the best normal big city daily in Canada. But I think they lost out, either too low a bid, or not the proper ideological slant.

Perhaps someone with time on their hands and an interest in the subject, could let us all know who is currently responsible for the ignorance of real issues and blatant PAB worthy drivel being published by the "erstwhile" Assperson Empire waste of wood fibre today.

I haven't noticed any sign of improvement with new ownership!

Koot, erstwhile, yah, OK, got it.

Apologies, that escaped my quick read. Just didn't want people to think the new name for CanWest was somebody new on the block.

By the way, I too was mildly enthused about TorStar, then that flicker of hope died as yours did. Funny, how similar our reactions were, eh?

Mary, I find it utterly amazing that this slips by, I often check SC BC, but I have been slacking, assuming nuttin is gonna happen until Sept. 13th I was hoping to find something happening with the other Court case,You know the ALR case/134750 publication ban CC648)so when I seen the docket Today because of You,August the 6th there it is the same day as 23299 did YOU note 134750, and that it was suppose to start in September YET it looks like it will be January 12th/2011
Could this be the reason for them all attending?

Interesting stuff...I wonder where it will ultimately lead? Further snooping in a legal dictionary gives the following information regarding Inherent Jurisdiction:

Inherent jurisdiction in Canada

According to the case law in Canada, the key restriction on the application of inherent jurisdiction is that the doctrine cannot be used to override an existing statute or rule. The clearest articulation of such restriction is set out in the Supreme Court of Canada decision in College Housing Co-operative Ltd. v Baxter Student Housing Ltd. [1976] which was a case dealing with whether a judge had exceeded jurisdiction in determining the mortgagee should have priority over other charges and encumbrances. The Supreme Court of Canada stated that a court cannot negate the unambiguous expression of legislative will and further held that:

Inherent jurisdiction cannot, of course, be exercised so as to conflict with statute or rule. Moreover, because it is a special and extraordinary power, it should be exercised only sparingly and in a clear case.

Another restriction on the application of the doctrine of inherent jurisdiction appears to be that inherent jurisdiction cannot be used to create new rules of substantive law.

IBJ: Initiated by Judge/Justice - adjournment: Used as the appearance result when an adjournment to a future court date is initiated by an adjudicator, for example: adjourned to give judgment/sentence/disposition/continuation.

Koot & CC

The group fronted by the National Post got the Canwaste dregs. And it looks as if Shaw has the inside track on the television side of the ledger.

I believe Canwaste is now Postmedia, but the Province and Vancouver Sun are still being run by the same cast of characters. Of course the Vancouver Sun is still shilling for the government's side of the HST by running editorials from the like of Jock Finlayson, John Winter, Phil Hockstein etc.

It beats me, why I can't post on my own blog ...

however,

I hope to have my connections restored soon; meantime ...

I think E.M.'s and Leah's findings belong on the front pages today.

Thanks, all. It's wonderful that you keep the ball rolling.

Sadly, why would they start now? The low quality crud that they are trying to pass off as news is disgusting to say the least. The columnists would rather ponder why Elections BC helped Vanderzalm and Delaney. Because it is a public servant's job to serve the public. Help PEOPLE navigate the beaureaucracy and things like that.

Sorry cfvua but:

"The columnists would rather ponder why Elections BC helped Vanderzalm and Delaney."

isn't remotely operative anymore. Elections BC, or some spineless bureaucrat in Elections BC has now decided to in Bill VanderZalm's words "thwart democracy."

The good news is that the 700,000+ signatures on the anti-HST petition passed muster (were validated) in ALL 85 ridings. But thanks to Gordo and Colon's butt buddies in business and their "frivolous" law suit challenging the petition itself - the whole process is on hold.

When you think about how toothless the petition and its remedies actually are, other than as a statement of the public will, it is only desparation that can explain this last second lateral hand off to the "justice" system, which as we all know the Gordo Gang can manipulate for years, until everybody who gives a damn is dead or moved somewhere with democracy that hasn't been sold out entirely down the river yet.

The weasel from Elections BC was too cowardly to announce the decision himself, delivering the absurd decision to Mr. VZ late this afternoon.

Mr. VZ, Delaney and Tieleman, aside from their counter court case plan more court action and RECALL on ALL, every goddamn one, BC liaR MLAs - might as well start organizing now - unemployment is obviously the only thing these guys will understand.

Since the government doesn't have to even deal with this until the house convenes (when, next year?) or hold a meaningless (non binding) plebiscite until over a year from today, today's action are stunning in their absolute stooooooooooopidity - desparate folks do crazy things!

Big Business needs to be put in its place. If they lost their legal status as "persons under the law", they couldn't punish the will of the people with huge, neverending SLAPP lawsuits.

Everybody:

Once again, E.M.'s findings are stunning: what was Dave Basi doing back in BC Supreme Court on Aug 6?

and what exactly was the pig farmer doing in BCSC that week, as well?

Please have a look at Norman Farrell's blog -- Northern Insights -- and read the Pickton-related posting and especially the comments regarding the "other people" who appear to have been overlooked in the mass murder charges ...

I repeat: I believe it's bad for our own mental health to get into the gruesome details of Pig Farm evidence ...

but I got my first shock watching the Pickton video (with the sound OFF and reading the printed transcript which accompanied the images) when Pickton complained to the Undercover Cop that there were "15 other people" who he thought were his friends, who ought to have been charged along with himself ...

This theme is picked up, as well, on the Norman Farrell site.

And the question remains, as to this whole PROCESS of releasing / not releasing vital evidence: obviously this Pickton evidence was sufficient i.m.o. to have convicted Pickton ... but it was withheld;

so I'm just wondering ...

wouldn't the Basi Virk Basi jury look at all this new, never-seen-before Pickton stuff and ask themselves if this is how trials go?

asking themselves if there's also vital evidence being held back from them in the BC Rail Political Corruption Trial?

[I hope this comment comes through! And I hope to be back online soon. Thanks to all who are keeping the news coming ... ]

Aneal Basi was due in Victoria Court for a Trial Confirmation Hearing on Aug. 5, 2010 for Impaired Driving. He finally appeared Aug. 10th. He now has a TCH on June 16, 2011 9am Room 103

Rain in Victoria,

Many thanks for your comment.

It solves a mystery from months back, where I saw Aneal Basi's name listed but couldn't figure out why he was in trouble.

Can you tell us what a TCH is?? It's certainly a long time from Aug 5, 2010 to June 16, 2011 ... strange.

And Room 103 sounds to me like the Victoria Court House ... is that correct?

Thanks again for the helpful information.
.

TCH - Trial Confirmation Hearing - and yes it is in Victoria

Possibly thinking they cannot send him to Jail if He has to appear in court room 54, what BS, impaired charge 10 months away????
