BC Rail Political Corruption Trial: Sept. 29, 2010. Delay, delay, deny ... is it mere coincidence that the former Minister of Finance, Gary Collins, is expected to be the next Crown witness?

BC Mary comment: What happened to Alan Wallace, the guy who fronted for the Campbell government in signing a deal (still partially secret) with CN?  He was expected to be the next witness at the BC Rail Political Corruption trial, wasn't he? And there's Brian Kenning, the so-called BC Rail guy. Is he finished testifying?

I hope that Courtroom 54 is packed with citizens who want to know what's being said about these matters.  Although that courtroom is open to the public to see and hear in person; there's still that handy little tool -- the Publication Ban -- to prevent information from getting around in the public domain. Go figure.

[Nor, incidentally, can I figure how Maclean's magazine could write a cover story on "The most corrupt province" (Quebec), without mentioning British Columbia's Campbell regime. They did mention BC, however: they blamed three premiers: Vander Zalm, Mike Harcourt, Glen Clark! I wrote to Maclean's pointing out that this comment was "2/3 wrong and 100% biased", then filled in a few details which obviously they didn't know, about the BC Rail Political Corruption trial, now well into its 5th year and counting.]

Specal note to Anonymous 7:08,

Many, many thanks. No, nobody told me.

Judge tell[s] jury that Special Prosecutor Bill Berardino will reduce the witness list to assist the trial!

Who will be excused from testifying? Who will not face the tough questioning from the Defence lawyers armed with mountains of emails?

Has a witness told Bill Berardino that they have refused to testify?

More questions and no answers.

Comments:
And just when we thought we would never hear again the reason that was used to get rid of BC Rail, way back in 2003, along comes something else, one more thing, one more carrot, one more public utility that needs to be sold off.

The BC Government has downloaded the cost of roads, bridges and tunnel onto the local taxpayers and then they have the audacity to tell us we don't know how to run them properly.

"We want to reduce the burden on the taxpayers. The challenge here — and you are hearing that even in Vancouver, where their biggest challenge is how to fund transit — is that we can't continually go after the taxpayer. I don't want to go after the taxpayer. I want to look at how we fund transit so that it is sustainable and affordable and meets peoples' needs."

SNIP

"BC Transit makes up most of its budget through a provincial grant, contributions from municipalities with which it has service contracts, and fare revenue. TransLink, which is responsible for public transit as well as roads and bridges in Metro Vancouver, has a budget of just over $1.1 billion which is funded through a number of direct sources such as fuel and property taxes, as well as ridership revenues."

Transit around B.C. to become unsustainable in five years

By Jeff Lee, Vancouver Sun September 28, 2010

WHISTLER — BC Transit's service around the province will become unsustainable within five years unless it can drive up ridership or substantially cut costs, the Crown corporation says.

That dire warning was given to municipal politicians at the annual Union of B.C. Municipalities convention by transit officials who say they are scrambling to find new ways to provide cost-effective mass transportation.

Absolutely pathetic.

The wheels of justice (if there are any) move so slow when it comes to the lieberals and their corrupt bunch and paid appointees.

After reading Keith Fraser's story, I was struck by these two facts:

* On June 7th the judge surprised the jury (and everyone else) by saying the case would likely go until March 2011.

* On July 7th the judge announced a 2 month summer recess.

Now, if the judge knew on June 7th that the trial would take until March 2011 (10 months), HERE ARE THE QUESTIONS THIS BEGS:

1. Does that mean that the trial will now go on until May 2011? (i.e. taking into account the 2 months lost to "recess")?

2. Or, did the judge already know on June 7th, that a month later she would be recessing the trial for 2 months? If so, why didn't she reveal that earlier (i.e. on June 7 or whenever it was decided that this particular trial would get the summer off)? [By the way, I've never heard of any criminal trial getting "the summer off". Has anyone else.?

3. Or, is she just blowing smoke and playing games with no meaningful or apparent basis in logic???

Or maybe I need a couple months off, and am seeing too many boogey-judges in the shadows?

This ongoing appearance of corruption from the liberal government is so many things, that I cannot begin to let go of any words to describe it. Mainly due to anger. You see, I am just an ordinary citizen that thought that we lived in a democracy where people matter. Where some speck of honest truth and integrity can be found in someone with a position of public trust. But no. We are being fed foul smelling crap at every turn. And expected to take it all without a whimper.

This is another reason why liberal mla's need to be recalled and urgently. They are silent on this madness and stand around watching BC's decline. Looks as though a trial will still not get justice in this BC Rail saga. Now what am I expected to hang onto?

I'm tired of always being so mad and spitting nails. Where can I get some of this Campbell kool aid?
