Has B.C. been railroaded lately?

.
BC Mary comment: Thanks to E.M. who has left two new comments on "BC areas being considered where foreign goods can ...", well worth further investigation. I'm grateful for all the help my readers can contribute (sources are important):

Now March 2011 We have Ken Dobell lobbying for Seaspan/WASHINGTON MARINE GROUP/Southern Railways - which is running the E&N Railway Victoria - Courtenay which I had the bitter sweet pleasure of taking on my return trip from Court in Vancouver on the 16th. I had been doing research on the E & N and how the hell did Southern Railway/Washington Marine Group get to run this railway?
The railway is owned by the Island Corridor Foundation and operated under contract by the Southern Railway of Vancouver Island.

The ICF is a partnership of First Nations, five regional districts and 14 municipalities. The governments of British Columbia and Canada assisted in the creation of the ICF by facilitating the receipt of E&N lands to the foundation through a donation by CP Rail.
WHY did CP DONATE?

Lobbyist Name: Little Tamara
Name of client: Seaspan Coast Intermodal
Summary of client's business or activity: Commercial Ferry Service to Vancouver Island
Dobell Advisory Servicers
(I went to public eye online to get source re Dobell getting the Gov. to change Legislation because Seaspan says BC Ferries are getting an unfair advantage, Public Eye online Nov 09)
Earlier, we reported Seaspan Coastal Intermodal Co. appears to have hired the premier's former special advisor Ken Dobell to advanced its complaints about increased competition from British Columbia Ferry Services Inc. The government-owned private company recently got into the same business as Seaspan - shipping tractor trailers between Vancouver Island and the Mainland. But, despite those complaints, BC Ferries new drop trail service shows no signs of shutting down.More recent info can be searched Using Seaspan as search.

anyhow I noticed March 4, 2011 PEO tells us "Earlier today, the present head of the public service Allan Seckel announced March 14 would be his last day with government" ...

E.M has left another comment:

Dec 2008

FEDS KICK IN FUNDS TOWARDS NEW BARGE SLIP
The Federal Government has kicked in $4.6 million towards construction of a new rail and truck barge slip, which Southern Railway of BC (WMG) plans to construct at its Annacis Island terminal. The new barge access would end a circuitous route currently needed to reach the Tilbury Slip in Delta, and reduce costs for access to Vancouver Island. (BL)

Island Corridor Foundation

A Via Rail RDC in Nanaimo.  The not for profit Island Corridor Foundation is a partnership between First Nations and local governments along the SVI [Southern Vancouver Island] line. After years of work and negotiations, the ICF came to agreements with both the Canadian Pacific Railway and Rail Americia, to hand over its Island rail assets to the foundation.

In February 2006, the Canadian Pacific Railway donated its 234 km (139 mile) portion of the SVI right-of-way, which averages 30.48 m (100 ft) in width between Victoria and Courtenay, to the Island Corridor Foundation. The donation was estimated to be valued at $236(C) million and encompasses 6.51 km² (1608 acres) of land, six historic railway stations and a number of trestles. In addition, CPR also supplied $2.3-million in "seed money" to the Foundation.

On 22 March 2006, RailAmerica handed over ownership of the Port Alberni to Nanaimo portion of the SVI to the Island Corridor Foundation. On 1 July 2006 Southern Railway of British Columbia began operations of the railway under contract from ICF using the name Southern Railway of Vancouver Island.

In January 2010 a new train ferry terminal started operating on Annacis Island in the Fraser River connecting to Nanaimo and offering the SVI increased freight capacity via Seaspan ferries.[9]

Freight and Via Rail passenger service continue, and commuter rail between the southern communities of Victoria and Duncan will be studied in the future.

(The study was done and the results are posted, will post in future )

Good work, e.m.

You've brought the ole' gang together, again, i see (humour alert).

In that light, i wonder if i might be permitted to select for special mention this shadowy fellow known as paul tellier.

I Could go on and on about him. His resume is frightening. But, in the interests of brevity, suffice it to say that this supra-technocrat was the man who did more than anyone else to pry CN Rail out of the grimey little hands of that small minority of ottawa mandarins that hold sway over the national goods. He was, at the point of dispossession, along with his mandarin co-horts, running everything public on behalf of the so-called crown, which is really the queen fronting for the bankers in new york and toronto but mostly in The City ( of London).

To say it a second time: Tellier proceeded to deliver our really big national railway into the greedy clutches of a corporate cabal of big-money boys from down south in houston/dallas.

When BC Rail was subsequently heisted, too, david mclean and paul tellier had long worked together and knew all too well how to pilfer the commonweal of one of its jewels, and how to get away with it. Both of these crime schemes were multi-tiered and worked out with their assistance for presentation in the board-rooms to gain the approval of the upper-most echelon of the conquering array.

Their agenda has long included a plan for gradual moves towards the amalgamation of the countries of North America; as well as the monopolizing of important regional sources of oil and water and food, while also controlling the delivery of said commodities abroad for private gain--to themselves, of course.

We all know how this goes by now, don't we?

Socialize risk; privatize profit.

To do that: Gain control of the authority of the state. Buy off the big media. And secure the support of the top judiciary. As the affiliated barons get insider information and take advantage to buy up on the ground. Then they all get together to line-up their ducks, like at decoy-collector Peter Browne's house, say; before getting busy developing the land, as they roll on over us towards their brave new darwian world, where all war against all, or at least those who can't defend themselves sufficiently.

Port Alberni, Kitimat, Squamish--all slated for major kapital expansion in service to the global economy; and, the adjoining rail-way lands in such places always come into play in a big way when getting assorted things under-way.

We are living through what they call the "g"reat work. The formation of a single union of the americas is part of their plans for the new world order. It's well underway if anyone hadn't noticed; and paul tellier is one of the key contractors hired to get it ON. So he's well worth remembering.

According to the Office of the registrar of Lobbyists for British Columbia

she's also lobbying the provincial government for:

"Tamara Little, a consultant lobbyist for Hill and Knowlton, is meeting with various public office holders on behalf of her client, Oracle, to discuss opportunities for her client to provide services to the BC government.

Tamara Little is also meeting with various public office holders on behalf of her client, Enbridge, to discuss her client and the proposed Northern Gateway Pipelines Project.

Tamara Little is also meeting with the Office of the Premier on behalf of her client, BHP, to arrange a discussion. [This is where the work of Lara Dauphinee begins. - BC Mary.]

I think the real question can be boiled down to:

Who/what actually controls the land and capital we know as the commonwealth?

Chinese Sneakers you summarized precisely what's being going on for several decades, and so succinctly and directly.

I'm going to cross-publish your comment to other blogs if you and Mary don't mind.

Canadian Canary:

Cross-posting to other blogs is certainly OK by me, especially if you give credit to us (Chinese Sneakers, The Legislature Raids) as the source, so new readers can find the blog for further reading.

This is a good way of keeping BC Rail in focus, asking the right questions, for public attention.

An MA in Cultural Anthropology?? You have to wonder what her thesis topic was, don't you? "Political economy and the behaviour of elites in hegemonistic resource societies" maybe? Or "Decepetion and conflation: rituals of corruption post-democratic economies".

Just goes to show you you don't need an MBA - or a degree in (ahem) international relations - to get ahead, in business or in government. Anthro degrees can serve nicely, if you're ready to dish out the spew and have a good line of credit for top-quality duds. Oh, and all the right connections, too.

There's hope for humanities graduates, after all.

Skookum1,

You're onto something! I could never figure out how Lara Dauphinee's degree was even a degree ("International Politics"?).

But then, as I've always said, almost ANY studies provide their inherent special benefits.

Ms Tamara Little is in a prime position (pardon the jest) to write an opera starring the culturally significant transmogrification of Gordon Campbell and the province he is obviously determined to destroy.
