Well, I'll be doggoned: Lara Dauphinee no longer works in the premier's office! But ... did she ever?

                   Lara Dauphinee

By Matthew Burrows,
The Straight - March 17, 2011

Former premier Gordon Campbell’s longtime executive assistant and deputy chief of staff Lara Dauphinee pulled down $131,916 in the 2009-2010 fiscal year, according to the provincial public accounts.

With Premier Christy Clark now at the helm, Dauphinee is gone entirely. And Clark’s new communications director, Shane Mills, would not give the reason for Dauphinee’s termination.

“The [staff] list is there,” Mills told the Straight by phone, before later adding: “Well, you might not have noticed, there has been a new premier. Premiers pick their staff.”

Mills also noted, “The people on that list that you have are the people who are in the office of the premier.”

According to 2009-2010’s public-accounts records from the Finance Ministry, Campbell’s former chief of staff, Martyn Brown, hauled in $170,544. He was made a deputy minister by Campbell shortly before he announced his resignation.

Meanwhile, former press secretary Bridgitte Anderson earned $114,511. Among the Victoria staff, former communications director Dale Steeves was paid $85,418, and Doug Brown collected $78,185. Brown is now listed as manager of communications and issues management.

Given Dauphinee’s higher salary, the Straight asked Mills if a restructuring of the pay grades was in the offing.

“That’s personnel stuff so…to be honest, I don’t know the answer either,” he said.

Update by E.M., MARCH 18, 2011

E.M has left a new comment [THE OLD FRIDAY AFTERNOON NEWS DUMP]:

Listening now, simi sarah, leonard Krog about BC rail enquiry [into] 6 million fees(sorta)

Research dept can't find another case when Gov has paid for convicted Criminals.  Krog says it is a one-off, and stinks to high heaven.

Loosy goose policy, Barry Penner is looking outside Gov for someone to review the policy of paying the Legal fees.

more later Listening NOW

E.M. adds this:

Bad Faith and Criminal negligence Krog says.

Liberals are throwing out a tiny bone, so [they hope we will forget] will forget the fiasco about the real deal of BC Rail, Krog says.

Krog said he hoped that she would follow George Abbott's call for enquiry for payment let alone the whole BC Rail affair.

I hope someone can write out this between Krog and Sarah, it's worth reading/hearing the whole interview. If I typed faster I would attempt it.

Very very narrow review She says, on CKN*

Comments:
she looks very catching.

Or fetching.

She probably had to "spend time with her family." Not that she has one of course..........

Why, it looks like a ring on her necklace. A plain band in fact, like a wedding band!

.
O.m.g., now I'm worried.

I thought it was a condom.

well, there's a certain sex toy I'll hesitate to mention....

but more serously, is the salary quoted the sum of BOTH positions she held, or only one? Was she the Exec Assistant on a pro bono basis, maybe? (LOL)

I guess it's okay to try & make light of this, however the sad reality is the hundreds of thousands of dollars that went to this individuals salary over the years. And what did we (BC Taxpayers) get for all that money ?

This is really bad timing for CKNW as they cancelled Alex Tsakumis on Sami Sarah yesterday. They are going to wish now that never happened!
I think any credibility they may have had took a serious hit especially on these matters.
My understanding to be fair is that it was a total shock for Sami Sara and she was caught up in someone else's bias.
CKNW is canceling themselves right out of business, now they have no-one left of any knowledge on these matters and are making themselves enemies of those who do. Bill Good will certainly be their worst asset in these matters!

Oh!!! you guys and girls aren't nice. But, I had to laugh anyway.

The BC Liberals, need to throw us the whole bone. They still don't hear us. We want a full review of, Campbell's corrupt sale of the BCR. If the corrupt judicial system, gets a good smack, all the better. Time the corruption in this province gets purged.

The paper reported this morning that Clark has decided to go ahead with a review of the payment of legal fees with an independent expert to be appointed. Didn't anyone see that?
http://www.vancouversun.com/news/Liberals+have+outside+expert+review+controversial+Rail+policy/4462659/story.html

Thanks, Laila. Yes, I saw it. Read it. Thought it sounded too inconclusive.

It still sounds like a walk-around to me. And, yes, inconclusive.

What do you think of its possible outcome?

Laila and Mary,
What they are proposing according to Attorney General Penner is to look into the "policy" that could explain as to how this payment was made or can be explained and if changes should be made to the "policy". They do not intend to revisit the Basi/virk deal or BC rail but only that policy. In other words they intend on doing nothing about what's happened but try to ensure it won't happen again.
In other words, waste more time, hopefully past the next election.
I hope what I just said makes some sense.
Don

A farce, of course,a sham with an appointed expert selected no doubt with Christy by the elbow of whomever is deemed responsible to find that expert.

Of course, this did surprise me. She is very cocky, taking this on in the most minimal manner, and if you ask me, it shows how desperate she is if she knows this one issue alone will dog her to defeat.

Yes, let her have her moment.I welcome the review,if for no reason other than it keeps this in the public eye, which at this point, is sorely needed. Her time will be short.

First Christy says that she'll consider an inquiry into the payment of the 6 million - then she flip-flops and says no, that's it's in the past and dealt with. She leaves it at that, while people around her rant and rave about the inquiry. She smiles her smug smile, while more "Railers" get upset with her stance.

Suddenly, out of the blue, she agrees to a very narrow inquiry...and everyone thinks she's had a change of heart? She throws a bone and everyone jumps on it believing this is real change? We're being played, like a cheap violin!

I'll believe in change when I see a FULL and OPEN inquiry...until then she's a puppet master, playing our strings with ease...while the likes of Morgan, Kinsella, Campbell and Harper play hers.

Change in BC has not happened, in fact the agenda of Campbell will be taking on new and heightened urgency from now until the next election. Watch for the decimation of more of our Crown's, with little to no oversight...and no discussion with us - the Stakeholders.

It appears BC's political cesspool is alive and well, and getting stinkier by the minute.

An aside here for a moment...I don't think the ring on Ms. Dauphinee's necklace is of a wedding type. It's a rounded ring, no stones - or flat surfaces at all.

Ahem ... my point, precisely.

It's a condom.

Mary.
The condom appears to be........damaged. Or incomplete. I hope she isn't saving it for an important occasion.

Leah, when you say ...... in fact the agenda of Campbell will be taking on new and heightened urgency from now until the next election. Watch for the decimation of more of our Crown's, with little to no oversight...and no discussion with us - the Stakeholders.

Not BC Rail related but,
Laila has the latest on BC Hydro. Campbell and Co. are continuing on with their dirty deeds. He's still running the show in my opinion, just behind the scenes.

And another query, those smart meters? Yeah, sure. Smart for who? The taxpayer/consumer? Not likely.

Anyway, everyone should follow Laila's writings. Her research is remarkable. Congratulations to her.

Also, Congratulations to Mary and this blog as well. Keep it up, people are watching/reading.

Campbell will still be running the province. I do remember him saying, he may stick around as an adviser for, the BC Liberal party. Just like he said when he resigned. I am going to be around for some months. I will continue on with my work. His work, has all been dirty work.

Campbell is too much of a control freak, and, I doubt he would ever allow Christy to screw up his dirty work, that he has been doing behind our backs. That would be totally out of character for Campbell.

Anon @ 12:44 asks:

"And what did we (BC Taxpayers) get for all that money ?"

That isn't the important question, all that matters is - What did Herr Campbell get for all that money - and, being the neo-liberal privatizer that he is, could he not have got the same much cheaper in the private sector?

"could he not have got the same much cheaper in the private sector?"

Silly me, I just remembered in the private sector he would have had to pay CASH, out of his OWN pocket, rather than ours...........

People please, you all ought to be a shamed of your comments, and at your age!!!

The ring symbolizes 'full circle'!

Now back to the real matter...

... "the real matter" being (according to you) what, exactly?

and what is a "shamed", precisely ... you know, the thing you think we "ought to be"?

It's always amusing when an Anonymous Authority starts finger-wagging, wow, and "at your age", too!!

Well, you did inspire me to Google "Full Circle". Quite an exclusive little group: 8,280,000 results which, in Wikipedia, break down into

songs
albums
film
TV
publications
plays
and, ahem, "other uses".

Wow. And you expect us to read minds, and decide which of those full circles is symbollized in your necklace?

C'mon, fess up: it's a condom. Right?

Mary! It's way too small to be a condom.

Oops, on second thought, we are talking about Pinochio.

All of you are terrible, but deliciously funny.

I thought big businesses were bank rolling Campbell? Hochstein said, he had over $2 trillion to pay Campbell to, use every dirty trick in the book to keep the HST?

Anyone thinking that Campbell isn't still the boss, had better rethink that.

He's still working with Harper on projects. Dirty oil tankers from China, and the pipeline. They are also working to drill oil and gas wells, off BC's coast. Campbell is still trying to push the expansion of Prosperity Mine. I bet that will go through.

Did Harper not leave the back door open, the expansion could be reapplied for? Hawe's says it can.

Christy playing the savior of BC people needing jobs. She is going to tackle Harper, on the expansion. Sorry Christy, you don't get the credit for it. That has already been done by Harper and Campbell. Christy is just Campbell's mouthpiece.

Campbell has to stay on the spot, so Christy doesn't lose control, of his corrupt sale of the BCR situation. Campbell is still here and still dirty.

Wikipedia is a treasure trove of information. Such as the many amazing types of Prince Alberts, which includes jewelry.

And warnings! For example, Co*k rings that are too tight, or worn for too long may lead to the destruction and possible amputation of the penis.

Call me old-fashioned but even with jewelry attached -- and Lara's necklace does appear to have two gems embedded -- it's extremely difficult to imagine this item as a desirable gift for a lady.
