Hansard Blues

Afternoon Sitting

L. Krog: I rise today to ask the House to pay its respects to the passing of one of British Columbia's most courageous citizen journalists, a woman who was a harsh critic of the B.C. government, particularly around the sale of B.C. Rail, and also critical of yours truly, in the role that I played in criticizing the government. She was a well-known blogger. A defender of democracy, she feared no power. I'd ask the House to pay its respect to the passing of B.C. Mary — Mary Mackie.

If Krog wants to pay proper respect to B C Mary he should start stiring the pot a little more vigorously on all matters surrounding B C Rail.
You will be missed Mary! You demonstrated unswerving commitment to the public interest over many years. I am deeply saddened by our loss.

A great blog and a real loss to the blogging world. Rest in peace Mary you will be missed
Goodbye Mary. We will make sure you are never forgotten and that the truths you sought to discover and expose will eventually see the light of day.

"Every time you hear a bell, an angel gets its wing"
Damn koot I'm making more typos/errors than usual lately....can you make taht "wings" or let me know if you can't and I'll resubmit it

not for publication
I'm stunned and saddened. I knew Mary was ill, but did not know that she had terminal cancer. I will miss her terribly.

She was such a force of goodness, and of vitality, right to the end of her life. Any one of us can only hope to leave such a legacy of love for her fellow humankind as Mary Mackie has.

To honour Mary's great work as BC's unofficial government watchdog, we must continue to press the government and the media and the courts to stop hiding the truth about the corruption that is running rampant in BC's government and authorities.
This is well-deserved praise. I loved Mary. She is one of a handful of heroes I have had in my life. I miss her much already. Thanks for posting Kootcoot.
Good on Leonard.
I'm so sad to hear that we have lost such a powerful and wonderful woman. You have been a selfless heroine, BC Mary. Rest in peace.
Some questions and answers for Mary.

Does the road wind up-hill all the way?

Yes, to the very end.

Will the day's journey take the whole long day?

From morn to night, my friend.

But is there for the night a resting place?

A roof for when the slow dark hours begin.

May not the darkness hide it from my face?

You cannot miss that in.

Shall I meet other wayfarer's at night?

Those who have gone before.

Then must I knock, or call when just in sight?

They will not keep you standing at that door.

Shall I find comfort, travel-sore and weak?

Of labour you shall find the sum.

Will there be beds for me and all who seek?

Yea, beds for all who come.

Goodbye Mary

You will live on in the hearts and minds of not only the people that followed your site but also the people that will learn of you in the future.

I miss you.
I can't imagine reading
The Legislature Raids without BC Mary.
Thank you Miss Mary, for the past few years although we've never met, I have learned alot from you.

Selfishly I weep, for another hero I'll never get to meet.

May God recieve your soul.
Thank you Kootcoot for allowing us to utilize this blog. I'm sure that we will be able to get plenty more information out here.
I'm so very sorry to hear of Mary's passing. My condolences to her family and friends. The province has lost an amazing advocate and she will be missed.

I, too love Mary & was shocked & heartbroken to hear that her journey on earth has moved on.

BUT - I have no doubt in saying that she crossed over surrounded by the love of her family and all her many friends & admirers.

She is missed - but her spirit is alive & thriving: just look at what happened yesterday with van Dogen finding his voice on the BC Rail Scandal!!

Keep on - keeping on, BC Mary & . . . . . THANK YOU, personally, for your friendship.
